Thursday, January 7th, 2016

Please see below for a couple of activities that we worked on during the day.

Inquiry:
During our Science Inquiry we watched a video of a space shuttle's launch going to the International Space Station.  Students are required to pick the specialist they would like to become in order to survive on Mars.  Once they pick the specialist they want to become they will be spending the next couple of months learning about this occupation.  Please see below for the video.

During our Social Inquiry students explored the different pictures that came from all around the world and examined what the images portrayed and wrote about what they wanted to learn in more detail from that country.
















HOMEWORK:  It is important for students to take the time to finish this. 

 Students are required to pick the specialist they would like to become in order to survive on Mars.  They also need to write why they choose this specialist and how is it going to help them survive. This activity should be completed on this blog.  If students aren't able to complete this homework on this blog then they can bring in a piece of paper or complete it on the kidblog.

    I would like to be a Botanist. I can provide food and water. I'm wanting to learn what will grow on Mars. Also to help others stay alive and healthy by planting seeds for food.

    The specialist I would want to be (and I am sure a lot of other kids will pick the same one) is a botanist because botanists can do a lot of things, first of all they can grow plants for food to eat on Mars, and they can get water. But, not that much. How they get water? They get water from stuff like fruits. Basicly fruits with juice and water in them. AND they can also get oxygen from trees. That miiiiiiight take a while... So, thats why they will help. cRuZy BoY.

    I would like to be a botanist because they are really important. They know a lot about plants. Plants can do many things like provide oxygen, can be used for shelter and can be eaten and make juice from them.

    The specialist I want to be is a geologist. A geologist studies the planet and what materials make up Mars. I will get to study the land and help people choose a safe place to build communities.

    I would like to be a Botanist. I feel this would be an important job on Mars because plants will help feed the people on the planet and create oxygen.

    For the Mars inquiry I would like to be a structural engineer to help with building a airtight building to put around the plants to help the plants live and to help us breathe in that airtight building.

    I would be a Botanist because you need to have lots of food and water and we said we would not know how long we would be on Mars for. I think we would be on Mars for 4 months because it would take a long time to get back to earth.I want to be a Botanist cause I think its the most import specialist.

    For the Mars inquiry project I would like to be a botanist so I can make food and water for at lest 6 or 7 months.

    I would like to be a botanist so I can have food by growing plants and have water from fruits which I also can grow from plants and they can get oxygen from trees

    I chose Botanist because they can provide everything to survive. They can provide
